Emma began dancing at the Sutton School of Dance from the age of 3 and holds IDTA awards in tap, ballet, gymnastics, disco, and freestyle. Early involvement in dance led to appearances in a variety of shows and carnivals around Norfolk including Thursford and Cromer Pier whilst also becoming a member of The Norfolk Youth Music Theatre.
Emma studied for 4 years after college and holds a BA (Hons) in Education with a Major in Dance from De Montfort University. Throughout her career she has continued to champion the inclusion of dance at GCSE and A-Level whilst heading up the Performing Arts department at both Milton Keynes Academy, the City of Norwich School, and now as Enrichment Co-ordinator at CNS. Her role involves overseeing and teaching dance, drama, physical education, music and art in secondary and higher education. Professional accolades include two nominations for Teacher of the Year and sucessfully leading two different schools to the highest Artsmark award achievable (at the time).
The birth of her first child in 2012 brought Emma back to Norfolk, which coincided with the emergence of Parallel Dance Studios. A second child in 2016 unlocked the posibility of working part-time, allowing for greater input into Parallel whilst still maintaining the joy of teaching dance to the masses as a subject teacher and Enrichment Co-ordinator at CNS. Emma has an undeniable love of teaching and working with young people.
“Dance should be for everyone and at Parallel we are committed to ensuring our pupils have accessible high-quality tuition with a friendly family ethos.”
