Lucy Cook

Dance Teacher

Lucy is the co-owner of Parallel Dance Studios in North Norfolk alongside her sister and dance-partner in crime, Emma. Lucy’s dance training began at the age of three and continued ever since gaining multiple IDTA recognised qualifications in ballet, tap, gymnastics, freestyle and theatre craft along the way. Lucy achieved a Triple Distinction BTech Diploma in Dance & Performing Arts alongside a Double Distinction BTech Diploma in Musical Theatre whilst studying at The Garage, Norwich post GCSE’s. Lucy’s dance training continued further at the prestigious Bodyworks Studio in Cambridge, here she expanded her dance-style repertoire with jazz, lyrical, commercial, Alexandra Technique and hip-hop, alongside classes in acting and singing.

Lucy’s love for dance has always been apparent, performing in shows and productions across the country including dancing for Slanted Dance, Cambridge Corn Exchange, touring with Notion Dance, fashion shows, music videos and commercial shows. Her early teaching experience also involved freelancing for Magic Steps, Notion Dance, Norwich City Community Sports, Stagecoach and also supporting children with disabilities.

In 2011 a lightbulb moment helped realise her passion was in teaching rather than performing, leading to the inception of Parallel Dance Studios.

Training and qualifications include: IDTA Accreditation, Licentiate Ballet Dancer (trained to teach pointe work and PBT technique). Dance Lead at Greshams Independent School (GCSE Dance and show choreography).

TV credits include Channel 4’s Dance Documentary and Sky 1’s Got to Dance.
